Sunday Software has led the way in making Christian software affordable for churches and individuals.

  • We were the first to offer quantity pricing on a regular basis for Christian software
  • We were the first to offer site licenses across a wide range of Christian software
  • We consistently release NEW software below the average price of secular kids software

Can I makes copies of my software and use those copies on other computers?
Can I install one copy of the program onto the harddrive of several computers?
Can I network from one computer to others and run the software over that network?

No. Just because you can copy something doesn't give you the right to copy it.

Like movies or books or music, when you buy software you are buying the "right" to use it, not the right to become your own publisher of the work. Most software is licensed for use on one computer station at a time. The only exceptions are those programs which can be purchased in a site license edition. Read below for details on that.

You can move the CD to different computer stations -if the program runs from the CD. But you cannot fully install a program on multiple computers from one CD without a site license. Example: If you want Life of Christ running on four computers simultaneously, you will need to buy four copies of the CD. (Fortunately there are quantity discount to reduce the cost of extra copies).

Making extra copies, copying a program from one CD to multiple locations, installing, or networking it to run at the same time on different computers, without the correct number of CDs purchased or without purchasing a site license - is illegal.

The only exception is IF you purchase the right to make copies, or the right to install the software on multiple computers. Such a right is most often called a "Site License." A site license gives the purchaser the right to make X number of copies or installations for use at one "site." MOST software programs do not have site licenses. You must buy multiple copies of the software.

Making your own copies in an attempt to avoid paying for the right number of copies is illegal. It's an 8th Commandment violation and against Federal Law. It is wrong to teach the Bible using stolen materials!

Churches are not exempt from the 8th Commandment or International Copyright Laws. Just because you cannot afford the right number of copies does not give you the right to break the law. You probably know this, but it bears repeating to others in your program.

What is a Site License?

A "Site License" is written permission from the copyright/owner of the software (in this case, Sunday Software) which you purchase in order to have the right to copy/install a program on up to X number of computers at one location. Basically, it's a big discount as well. You get a copy of the CD with the written permission to install it on up to X number of computers.

Only some programs have site licenses. Others must be purchased in correct quantities. IF a program has a site license available, you will see that the "site license edition" is a separate entry on our online order form. Use that separate item line to order the site license edition.

Please note: due to the way our order form calculates license pricing, you will order either a Qty of '1' or  '2' or '5' of the license to get the form to calculate the right price. Just follow the instructions on the form. You will only get 1 copy of the site license CD. The "qty" of the license is merely a math variable for the form.

You do not have to purchase both a copy of the program and the license. A copy of the program COMES WITH the site license. Look at our order page and you'll quickly see which programs have site licenses, and how to order them.

The following programs are the only Christian programs which have Site Licenses:
Bongo Loves the Bible
Joseph's Story
Galilee Flyer
Cal & Marty's Scripture Memory Game
Let's Talk
Exodus Adventures
Jesus in Space
Attack of the Sunday School Zombies

All other software must be purchased one-CD-per-computer.
Thus, the number of computers you choose to run will dramatically impact your software budget.

For those programs listed above that do have site licenses available, we have two levels of Site Licenses: 5 to 10 computers, and 11 to 15. That means you can buy ONE license for 5 computers, paying one cost, and if you add another computer you can legally install that program on the sixth computer as well. If you have more than 15 computers in your lab, contact us.  Update: check the order form. Some of these may now have a 3rd tier license for 15+ computers.

The concept of site licensing is more common in the business software world where corporations buy software for large numbers of computers at one location. Typically, those programs cost in the hundreds and thousands of dollars, and their market is quite large. Christian software exists in a very small market, and the typical end-user only has one computer or a couple of computers. Christian software titles average below $30 in cost.

The reason that some programs have no site licensing available are many: copyright restrictions, technical limitations, expected use, manner of installation, price, licensing agreements already in force, and marketing decisions.

Converting a Single Copy to a Site License Copy
We also make this offer: If you buy one copy of one of our programs FROM US to preview (not from another distributor), and that program also comes with a site license, we will allow you to "convert" the single copy price into a Site License price for the difference between the single copy and Site License price. Contact us about doing so. You have 90 days after the shipping date of your software to convert it to a licensed copy.

Limitations to Your Site License
A Site License is applicable only "on site." In other words, where the program is to be used, such as, in a church or school. The Site License does not give you the right to pass around copies of the program for installation at several sites, such as, a home and a church. HOWEVER, we like to be generous about this issue. A church office and computer lab are considered the "same site." And we do not have a problem with a teacher temporarily using the program at home to preview it and prepare a lesson.

Archival Rights

You have the right to make a back-up copy of ANY program you purchase for "archival purposes." The copy must be put "out of use" somewhere, such as, on a shelf or in a closet. It may only be used if the original copy or installation becomes inoperable.

About Sunday Software's Quantity Pricing

Sunday Software is the first and only Christian software publisher to offer quantity pricing up front (without you having to ask for it) and in tiers. If you buy 2 to 4 copies of a program, you usually save 10% to 15%. 5 to 7 copies are usually at 25% discount. 8+ are around 30%. We develop our own software and carry other people's software at a fair price. It is important to note that our discounts are based off our single copy prices, not based on the fictional "retail price" set by some distributors.

How can I possibly teach with software when its "so expensive?"

Yes it IS more expensive to teach with computer software than with construction paper and glue. If you cannot afford to buy quality software, it probably isn't a good idea to try and teach with computers. Multimedia isn't cheap to make, --and the market is fairly new and small. No matter how much you pay, the only real question is will you get results. We think software helps teach the Bible in an amazing way. Having said that, software may be cheaper than you think when pro-rated across the number of kids you'll use it with each year.
