GO BACK TO OUR SOFTWARE LISTINGS

These links are provided as a service. Sunday Software does not endorse everything you will find on these sites (of course), including some of the theology. Having said that, I've never been afraid to fish in another pond when it comes to looking for good ideas. Not all the material on these sites represents our ministry's point of view.

These links are here because I like them, NOT because someone has paid to put them here or offered reciprocal linking. I've marked a few just because they are especially worth a look. Please submit links you have found useful. If you find a link to be in error, please email us

COMPUTER RESOURCES

AVG FREE Antivirus --almost as good as Norton, and has a free version for personal use.

Do you have programs running "in the background" that you don't need and are sucking RAM? (or worse, are spyware) The following website maintains a list of programs that can Start-up when you boot up Windows. They appear on Windows Tasklist and tells you what they do (or that you should remove them) http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm. Very handy to bookmark. Some programs on your tasklist are absolutely necessary. Others are superfluous and are just eating ram. I check my TaskList about once a week. Start|Run, then type "Msconfig" and click the Startup Tab.

Spy-Bot Search and Destroy ...a totally free program that nukes "spyware," "spy-ads," and "tracking cookies" that get planted in your Internet browser. A widely acclaimed and easy to use utility. I use it every week.

Smart Computing --This is my absolute favorite magazine about computers, hardware & software. Windows centered. Every issue is very helpful. Great for novice and expert computer users and Web surfers. "In Plain English" is their motto.

Children's Software Revue: An excellent secular site and magazine for those who want objective reviews and great secular software recommendations.

Other Ministry Links & Resources

SundayResources.net --my blog site, with articles on Church Staff issues, Recommended Books, "Green Jesus" (church eco & energy issues), church change, and other musings.

Christianbook.com ...good prices on lots of books, videos and other church related resources.

"Sign Sermons"  ....browse nearly 1000 "sayings" for church signs. There are some really funny ones ~and some quite good ones too. My personal favorite: "Trouble sleeping? Try our sermons"

Presbyterian Church USA: Link to my denomination's page.

Online Ministry Assessment Tool -A test you can take on line for measuring various ministries (youth, worship, pastoral care) in your congregation. Developed by the ELCA. Very interesting.

Sermon Illustrations & Children's Sermons --Stories, object lessons and more. A big site with lots of material. Sermon Central --another packed site, created by a pastor. Worship Resource Links --the most comprehensive and wide ranging website on Worship Resources I've seen. The Cyber Hymnal --2600 hymns from many traditions you can search, read and LISTEN to in midi file format. A great hymn picking resource for the pastor who can't read music.

Green Jesus  ~ eco-friendly tips for your church. (Part of Neil's www.sundayresources.net blog)

Faith Forums --online message board based community of various kinds of Christians and non-Christians sharing their stories, debating issues. Surprisingly ecumenical, usually polite, sometimes provocative, and frequently of a personal sharing nature. Very interesting -particularly those sharing their life stories of how they came to be a Christian.

NET Results New Ideas for Vital Church....a very interesting magazine from Tom Bandy and Bill Easum. Forward thinking!

Barna Research --interesting and sometimes eye-opening survey into American religious practices and beliefs.

Informative, Weird, Wacky

Fullscreen Panoramas of Locations Around the World ...Quite wonderful. Make sure you have a fast computer, fast web connection, and plenty of videoram.

Landover Baptist Church --A lampoon of a mega-church and the political/commercial nature of American Christianity. Often funny, sometimes of questionable taste, but always provocative. This site features intense poking fun at The Church and ultra-conservatives. For mature audiences. Do not go here without a sturdy sense of humor or desire to understand how Christian churches can seem absurd to non-Christians.

The Moon Landing was not a hoax --the website that refutes those who think the landing was a hoax. Cheeky, and a good example of how some people will believe what they want to believe, and yet their strange beliefs can be easily refuted. James Randi Foundation --the rather famous ex-magician who goes around debunking paranormal (esp) claims.
