I remember back in the early 90's when the name "Computer Lab" was cool enough. The kids didn't much care what the walls looked like. You could have turned off the lights and they would have been just as happy watching their glowing screens. I've actually taught with the light off a couple of times and it's fun. Decor and Names can be fun too.
As Computer Labs became more numerous, in part due to the spread of the Workshop Rotation Model in the late 90's, it was common to see labs with decor themes and special names that fit in with an overall theme. For example, one Sunday School had a railroad theme for all its workshops. Their computer lab became "Information Station." Without the overall train theme, "Information Station" wouldn't sound so good to me. But it makes perfect sense in that church's scheme. I think that's the way it is with a lot of the names below. Some of the names on this list below I wouldn't choose, but I'm sure they make sense to that church in their context.

On the right side of this page I've listed my personal favorites. Names are in the ear of the beholder, so don't feel bad if your lab's name isn't on my personal list. My church's lab name isn't on my favorites list either! ...There's was just something about those names which are worth a special mention.

The following is a list of names in no particular order which were submitted to me via email. If you think you have a unique name that should go on this list, email me.
"Windows to the Word" ![]() This photo comes from Karen at Springdale, Arkansas First United Methodist Church. It's a good example of how a name makes sense and will get used when you design it into the room.
