Windows 7, 8 and 10 Compatibility with Our Software

With only one exception, if it is in our catalog right now, it will run in Windows 7 and 8 and 10 –either right out of the box or with some tweaks. Check the list below.

• Only Play & Learn Children’s Bible CD doesn’t run in Windows 7,8,10, but we keep it around for those with older computers.
• And you will need to tweak Windows to run some programs, but that’s typical.

Windows 10 is terrific! Microsoft has done a great job at maintaining backwards compatibility for older software in newer systems. But sometimes you need to make a tweak or two. Check our support page for individual program’s tweaks.

We have tested all our currently available software on Windows 10 and they all work fine, though you need to pay attention to which version of QUICKTIME you install (until Apple fixes a compatibility issue, which should be soon. See our Quicktime Fix Notes.

If you have Windows 8, we strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 10.

Update: Several customers have reported display problems after upgrading an older PC to Windows 10. See notes/fixes below.

Quick Windows 10 Tweaks

Because Windows 10 works and functions a lot like Windows 7, we don’t have any special notes about installing or running our software in Windows 10.  Usually it goes without a hitch.

We do remind you that you will need to download the latest version of Quicktime for Windows to your Windows 10 computer.

Our only caution is to those who upgrade a “much” older computer to Windows 10. We have had reports of odd software behavior/glitches due to old video chipsets and their old drivers not being fully Windows 10 compatible.   Not all old hardware can run Windows 10 flaw-free.

To date, we have solved those Windows 10 graphic problems. Here are the two solutions:

In brief, our three biggest “Windows 8 compatibility” tips are:

(1) Right click the program’s startup icon and select “Run as Administrator”. This often solves errors. Do this for any file you are installing.
(2) Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime**
(3) Read this article about “Making Your Program Appear Full Screen” on your new computer screen.
