“Site Licensing”, Networking, and Software Quantity/Copying Issues
New Details!
With many of our titles, if you order 2 or more copies, you will receive a site license edition of the CD allowing you to install the program on as many computers as you have ordered copies of the program for. Special instructions will be included. Check the details below the price on the CD’s webpage to see if yours will be shipped that way.
In other cases, if you order multiple copies of the CD, you will receive multiple copies. It depends on the licensing agreement we have for each program. See the software’s pricing info on the program’s webpage description.
You will install from the CD, then store the CD away for safekeeping. All our site licensed CDs come with a replacement guarantee should you ever misplace or damage the original CD.
Sunday Software has led the way in making Christian software affordable for churches and individuals.
- We were the first to offer quantity pricing on a regular basis for Christian software
- We were the first to offer site licenses across a wide range of Christian software
- We consistently release NEW software below the average price of secular kids software.
- We have permanently lowered the prices of many programs by up to 50%.
What is a “Site License”?
Some programs can be purchased with, or come with, a “site license”. The site “license” grants you the right to make X number of installations of the program. Some programs do not have site licenses.
Can I makes copies of my software and use those copies on other computers?
No. You can only install the program on as many computers as you have paid for in your original order. If you purchased “4” then you can only install to 4. Please obey the law and respect our copyright.
Can I install one copy of the program onto the harddrive of several computers?
Perhaps. For example, if you have purchased “three copies of our Fluffy Christmas CD, then you have permission to do a full install from one of the Fluffy CDs to three computers.
If you have only purchased one CD and install it to two computers, that is stealing.
Can I COPY MY CD to the harddrive instead of running it from the CD?
Yes, many of our programs allow you to copy the entire contents of the CD to a folder on your harddrive and you can execute the application from the installed folder’s executable. Once you do so, the CD must be archived and not used on another computer (unless you have a site license for it). Please obey the law.
Can I NETWORK from one computer to others and run the software over that network?
Yes, but only if you own one CD of that title per station you are trying to ‘network’ it to. Just because the technology exists to make one CD appear in many places, doesn’t give you the right to do so.
That said, most local networks cannot handle interactive multi-media. Many softwares designed for standalone use run afoul of server configurations. And here’s the honest truth: Many church networks have technical issues which put your Sunday School computer use at the mercy of their network admin. As a Sunday School teacher, having a standalone computer is the simpler solution.
Can I make a backup copy of a CD?
Absolutely yes, and we recommend it. Just put that backup copy in safe place (and not on another computer).
Why do some programs come with a site license and others don’t?
The reason that some programs have no site licensing available include: licensing agreements with content in the CD, contracts with developers/distributors, copyright restrictions, technical limitations, and marketing decisions.
