Detailed Support Notes for our Sofware CDs and Downloads
We’ve been doggedly providing support to our customers since 1996. MOST problems have simple solutions, such as installing the latest version of Quicktime, or RIGHT clicking your program’s icon and selecting “Run as Administrator”. See my “Common Solutions” toggle below for those notes. Many of our tech notes are for those with older equipment, and we also maintain tech notes for programs that are no longer available.
If the tech notes don’t help, email neil@sundaysoftware.com
Return to our Main Support Page for a list of “Common Solutions”
If you have new computers, be sure you have downloaded the latest version of Quicktime for Windows 7.7.9 as many of our programs will require that last version.
If you have an older computer (5+ years older) and want my tech support, please tell me the exact nature of the problem, specifically: when during loading or play that the error is happening, your operating system, and how much ram and video ram the computer has. If your error is graphical in nature, I may also ask you for a “DXdiag” report from your computer so I can check your graphic chip and driver. See the toggle below about that.

Be sure to view/print our TEACHING GUIDES for your program. In most cases, they contain additional technical information that will be helpful to you.
COMMON SOLUTIONS to tech support issues with our software:
1. Program won’t run in Windows Vista, 7 or 8 or 10?
RIGHT CLICK the program’s startup icon and select “Run as Administrator“ to give it permissions.
This is a common problem with programs that want to write a file to the harddrive or access something, and Window’s security is stopping it from happening.
You might also RIGHT click and select the Compatibility Mode to “Run as XP”. This settles down some operating systems with certain programs.
In some cases, if the program is crashing at startup, you may need to install the program to a folder on your desktop or in the root directory (c:/) rather than letting the program install to the default “c:\programs” directory. It’s a Windows thing. See the notes for your specific CD to see which of these is the solution.
Program won’t run on your MAC?
Apple continues to make changes to their OS that make software that made-for-Mac no longer compatible with the latest Mac OS. This is unfortunate, and part of Apple’s on-going, industry-lamented lack of commitment to backwards compatibility. You’d think a program made for 10.5 should be able to run in 10.7, but that’s not always the case. Our advice: stick with Windows. MOST Christian software programs made for Windows 98/XP still work on Windows 10!
2. If Animations, Videos, or Menus Won’t Play
Make sure you have the latest version of QUICKTIME for Windows installed from https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837. Even thought they no longer update Quicktime, the last version they made cures a lot of multimedia ills.
Or, in the case of some older programs (Life of David, Paul series/etc.), you must install version 2.0 or 2.1 of Quicktime that is FOUND ON THE CD ITSELF. Often abbreviated as “qt32” or “qtinstall”. For all other of our programs that you want to run on Windows 7, 8, or 10, install Quicktime version 7.7.9.
A reminder about Quicktime…
(a) You CAN have multiple versions of QT on your computer.
(b) If a version ever asks you “Do you want me to search for other versions?” Always say NO.
(c) Yes, you probably need to install the latest/last version of Quicktime 7.7.9. The Quicktime security issue related to web browsing has been fixed. Search for Quicktime for Windows 7.7.9.
3. 3D Style Game Play is Slow, or 3D style game “won’t start”
This is often due to lack of RAM and videoram. Check the program specs. Not “starting” or crashing is usually due to a permissions problem. It’s always a good idea to tell Windows to “Run as Admin” any program in our catalog. See each program’s Support Toggle below for more help.
4. Sound too soft. Can’t hear.
If you have a laptop, take our long-standing advice and plug a cheap set of amplified speakers into the sound-out port. Laptop speakers and volume controls are notoriously finicky and soft.
5. Program doesn’t “fill” the screen, or looks stretched wide.
Scroll down this page for help or visit this how-to article.
Additionally, a few more “common solutions to common problems” can be found on our main support page.
How to tell us about your computer’s capabilities (specs):
If you need my personal tech support, and the “common” solutions have failed, and your COMPUTER THAT IS MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD I may ask you to create a“DirectX Diagnostics Report” for me to look at. This is especially needed if you are having a display/graphic problem. Fortunately, they are really easy to create, and will tell me important things about your system resources and video chip and driver.
DXDIAG is short for “DirectX Diagnostics.” It is a system report utility that is built into Windows. Running it can generate a simple text report can tell us about your video card, video driver, video ram, processor and system memory (ram).
Here’s how to run Direct X Diagnostics on your Windows operating system.
1. Click your Windows desktop START button (the windows pearl located in the lower left of your desktop). A menu will pop up.
2. Type the letters DXDIAG in the “RUN” field (XP) and click OK
Or… type DXDIAG in the SEARCH field (Vista/Windows7/8).
In Vista and Windows 7/8 you’ll see the file dxdiag.exe appear in the search results.
Click dxdiag.exe to open DirectX Diagnostics.
3. View the DirectX Diagnostics Page.
The first page tells you about your computer and operating system. You can click on the “Display” tab to look at your video/graphic chip and driver info.
4. Click the button that says “Save All Information” …..and email me that simple text file,
It will prompt you to save this info as a text file somewhere on your system. If the computer in question is not connected to the internet, you need to save that text file to a USB flash drive (memory stick/card) or to a disc, and bring it to another computer to email the file to me.
If you’re a customer of ours, STOP HERE and EMAIL your DXDIAG text file toneil@sundaysoftware.com
I’ll research your info and get back to you.
If you’re not our customer….
5. Click the “Display” tab to see vital information about your video/graphic chip.
Write down the NAME and model number of your video chip, and the DATE for the video driver you have. It’s all in the dxdiag report if you want to just save it and view it.
Next…. Go to your computer manufacturer’s website to see if they have an UPDATED video driver for your computer (one with a newer release date than the one seen in the DXDIAG report). In some cases, you may need to go to the video chip company website to see if they have an updated driver.
Abraham and Sarah CD
No known problems other than, -if you have a newer operating system, you MAY need to install the latest version of Quicktime for Windows instead of the version which comes on the CD.
If the CD installer keeps asking you to install Quicktime, you need to uninstall Quicktime, AND uninstall the Apple Updater software (both!) See our Quicktime notes about this.
Make the program appear larger on your screen by adjusting your Windows Display “SCALING” option to 150% prior to using the Ten C’s program. A link to your Display options will open when you right-click any empty area on your desktop. How-to article.
Awesome Bible Stories CD
Reported problems and their solutions:
- “Purim video not working.” Solution: Download latest free version from www.apple.com/quicktime.
- “Talents” story audio is hiccupping a syllable here and there. Annoyance only affects version 1.0.
- “More Information” study note in Creation story cuts off. Only occurs in version 1.0. Read the text or upgrade to 2.0.
- “I’m stuck on the Zaccheus floating butterfly screen” –click the butterfly!
- “One of the Adam and Eve study notes is wrong in version 2.0.”
Re: Wrong Adam and Eve Study Note:
- This replication error only affects some 2.0 CDs. It was corrected in 2.2.
- Download an installable Adam and Eve Study Note Fix here for version 2.0 of Awesome CD.
- View the correct study note here.
Fix File Details: This is a simple file you will swap in to replace the faulty one. The fix file download is a 10mb zipped file. Download Adam and Eve Study Note Fix File Here. Instructions for installing the fixed are found in the README text file in the download. Because Awesome CD 2.0 was designed to run from the CD, you’ll first need to copy all of Awesome CD 2.0’s contents to a new folder you create on your harddrive (because you can’t copy a file to a CD!). Once you create a folder and put all the CD’s files into it, you can copy the new Adam and Eve story file from the download into that new folder. For there you can run Awesome CD from the harddrive folder, or if you wish, you can burn a copy of the folder to make yourself an updated Awesome CD 2.2.
Version Update Note:
In version 2.2 we added an installer so that you can install the entire contents of Awesome CD to your harddrive and create a desktop icon. In previous versions, the program ran from the CD in the CD drive. Version 2.2 also includes the fixed Adam and Eve file.
Actual Reality CD
“Videos/music don’t run.” Solution: Install the version of Quicktime 2.1 which is on the CD in a folder labeled QT. Actual Reality will work on newer computers, but needs the older version of QT installed. Note: When the QT32.exe installer asks if you want to find other versions of QT on your system, just select “No” or “Skip” and continue with the install. You may also need to RIGHT click the qt32.exe file and select Properties/Compatibility mode for XP to get it to install. Note: Actual Reality also doesn’t install a start-up icon, but you can do it manually.

Charlie Church Mouse CDs
Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime for Windows on your computer (search for “Windows Quicktime download” at apple.com). It’s free.
Charlie CDs have gone through several tech updates. There are ‘old’ versions of Charlie floating around that won’t work on newer versions of Windows. First, be sure you have downloaded the latest version of Quicktime for Windows from apple.com. Second, if the Quicktime update doesn’t help, right click your Charlie desktop icon and fuss with the “compatibility” settings Windows offers you to tell its system to be kind.
If you have the older 2 CD set of Christian Clickart Deluxe, the first time you put CD #1 in the drive an error message will appear. Ignore it. It’s trying to install an old utility you do not need. Click on by.
Elijah and Jonah CD has been updated twice since its original release. Check your CD label to see which version you have. If you have version 1.0 or 1.1, then you need CONTACT US for the free downloadable version 1.2 update.
The update contains numerous navigational improvements, an update for the flash files to run on newer systems, and a new menu that allows you to jump directly to all the games embedded in the stories.
Version 1.2 also solves a “runtime” error some users experience in Windows 8 and 10.

Faith through the Roof CD
5 Loaves ~ 2 Fishes CD
These two game-lessons were made with the same game engine version, specs, characters, and concept, so the tech advice here for one will likely help with the other.
Important Faith Through the Roof Update: If you have Windows 8 or 10, you need to download the following Video File Updates to Faith through the Roof. If you don’t replace the original videos in the installed game, two important videos will not play and the game may freeze. The zip file has 2 updated windows media file videos to replace the originals that came in the download (downloaded prior to June 2020). Unzip/extract the zip file to a folder on your computer then COPY the two video files (video1.wmv and video2.wmv) and PASTE them into the Faith Through the Roof folder on your computer where you have Faith through the Roof installed. Windows will ask you if you want to “replace” those files, select OK.
Important 5 Loaves Update: If you have Windows 8 or 10, you need to download the following Video File Update to 5 Loaves. If you don’t replace the original video that came with the game (prior to June 2020), then the game may freeze when you try to play the video. Download the zip file and unzip/extract the video2.wmv video to a folder, then copy and paste it into the INSTALLED folder on your computer where the 5 Loaves program is already installed.
Windows 8 Users: See our tech note on making sure you have Windows Media Player (instead of the Xbox Video App on W8) set as your default video player in Windows.
Faith Through the Roof on old computers:
If you don’t have enough free ram/videoram, the animation may not play when you click on the hole in the roof. If that “through the roof” animation video doesn’t run it on a newer computer, you probably need the newest version of Quicktime for Windows installed to your newer computes. If you MISS that video, you will just miss the animation of the man being lowered. Step into the hole on the roof and you will be taken to talk to Jesus.
If your game graphics look stretched on a wide-aspect monitor (such as a laptop), then view this graphic about how to ‘fix’ the dimensions. It is suggested that you turn down your Windows Display Resolution to below 1200×900 pixels for best viewing of the game.
If your Faith through the Roof CD’s label doesn’t say “v1.1” then Email neil@sundaysoftware.com for the free version 1.1 update.
Some problems with the game are actually “how to play” problems, thus, we strongly suggest you Read the Teacher’s Guide and Game Tips.
Here are a few common playing tips:
5 Loaves
I get stuck on the right side dock at the beginning of the game. Sorry about that. Press the forward key until the boat nudges its way free. If it is really stuck, restart the game. Additional Tip About the Dock: Don’t jump in the water. Sometimes the player gets ‘caught’ on the dock.
I can’t find the 5 Loaves and 2 Fish. See the guide!
I can’t find all 12 Baskets to collect. They are all there in the crowd nearby Jesus. Keep looking.
Music video on fishing trip is a blank screen. See the tech note above about updating the video file!
Faith Through the Roof
“Can’t Get Across Roof”
Read the Teacher’s Guide and Game Tips. Remember to jump the gaps between roofs while moving forward. Hold down your SHIFT KEY while pressing the Forward arrow to gain speed, then press Home (Jump) key at the right time. You only have to jump between roofs. To get to the last roof where the hole appears, you need to walk across the ladder.
TIP: When you go up the stairs you have to jump over the lip of the roof and go across the netting to the wooden roof. But be careful not to fall through a hole in the netting!
HOLES: There are two roof holes. It’s the second one across the ladder laid over the gate that you can let the man down through to see Jesus.
HUGE TIP: Use your mouse to look down at your feet while crossing the ladder that goes over the gate. Walk slowly and course correct.
When I click on HOLE in roof, Video Won’t Play, or something similar.
See the notes above about downloading the updated video files for Faith Through the Roof. (Windows altered their windows media file “codec” a few years ago.
Do you have enough ram and videoram? Some underpowered computers (for this game) studder at this point. And are you at the right hole? There are two. You should be over the room where Jesus is talking.
MORE TECH NOTES:
Windows 8 users “may” need to have Windows Media Play set as the default program in Windows 8 to playback “wmv” video files. By default, early versions of Windows 8 tried to open the game’s video using the useless “Xbox Video App.” Open your “default programs” option in the Windows Control Panel to make this setting. (They changed back to Windows Media Player as the default in later versions of W8.)
5 Loves or Faith CDs: Game won’t load or you get an “ACKNEX MUST CLOSE” error message: Acknex is the A6 game engine. 3d game engines are notoriously finicky. Turn off all other programs. Even a pop up notification can unbalance the game. Right click the game’s desktop icon and select “run as administrator.” You can also Right click the icon and select Properties, then “compatibility” and tell Windows to “run as XP” to settle your computer down a bit.
Faith CD BONUS! There’s a high resolution version of the music video in the game’s installed folder that you can copy and/or play outside the game. It’s named video2-QuicktimeHiRes.mov. It will open in your Quicktime player or other installed Windows media player.
Game Screen Minimizes or “closes” to the taskbar during play: Press your SHIFT Key rapidly 5 times. This will prompt the Window’s “sticky keys” feature to open. Select “No”. If this doesn’t help, do one of two things or both: (1) Update your video driver. Window minimizing during game play is a known issue with some video chip drivers. (2) Turn off programs that may be trying to update in the background. Pop up windows often interfere with game processes. Sometimes it happens when the kids hit the WINDOWS KEY by accident. I have to remind my students NOT to hammer on the keys and keyboard.
About the Red Arrow: The Red Arrow in the game is a “general” directional aid. But what you are specifically looking for in that general direction is TOLD TO YOU by one of the characters in the game. The arrow just keeps you from getting too lost.
Arrow Anomalies: When Peter tells you to “go talk to Stephen” (who is standing behind Peter), the arrow still appears to point to the dock (which is where the stretcher will appear after you talk to Stephen!). When you’re inside the village, the arrow appears to be pointing through walls! Yes, that’s because it’s giving you the ‘general direction’ of where to head. To get to Peter’s house, however, you have to exit the village and walk around back until you see the brown walls to his house (by the sheep pen). The entrance if down a short a walkway along the brown wall.
If you cannot hear the AUDIO narrations in the game: Open the SUPPORT FOLDER on the Faith CD and run the oggcodecs…exe file to install the popular ogg audio format codecs on your system. The oggcodec executable file in the SUPPORT folder on this CD is for Windows users who are having problems hearing the AUDIO in the Faith through the Roof CD. The audio files in the game are in the popular “ogg vorbis” format. Some older versions of Windows may not have the ogg codecs installed in Windows Media/Audio Player. Running the oggcodecs-exe file will install the proper audio codecs.
Be sure you have the game installed in the c:/ program x86 folder. This folder gives special permissions for games to run in newer versions of Windows.
Set your Windows Display Resolution to as near to 800 x 600 as possible, especially if you have a weaker video card or lower ram. This will also make the videos appear larger on your screen as they are fixed dimensions.
Both video1 and video2.wmv can be played outside of the game in Windows Media Player.

Fluffy and God’s Amazing Christmas Adventure CD
There is a HUGE difference between Fluffy 1.0 and Fluffy 1.2. Lots of stuff was added. Be sure you have version 1.2, and not version 1.0. The latest version has MULTIPLE SHEEP on its CD label.
IF… You get an LOADLIBRARY error message during installation, then your Fluffimation Text to Speech won’t play. (nothing gets spoken back when you press Play). You need to correct this. Keep reading.
Warning: If you ignore this message the rest of the program will work, but you’ll wonder why the Fluffimations don’t work even though you thought you saw the speech application install. The problem is that it didn’t REGISTER correctly. That’s why we put a second speech install option on the CD. The following solution installs and registers the speech application properly on quite a bit OLDER versions of Windows that were having the problem. “Explore” the files of the Fluffy CD using Windows Explorer (same thing as ‘My Computer’ basically). Now double click the XTRAS folder to open it, then double click the YAK folder, and double click the INSTALLERS folder (we buried it, sorry). Now… Right click install.bat and select “open” to execute the file. If the installer wants to install “Older files over Newer,” let it install the older files. They are required to run Fluffy’s Fluffimations.
IF….You have an older Mac and are getting FONT error messages
Then…
Just keep clicking “continue” or “ignore.” It’s just an adjustment problem with the default font.
IF… You get a Script Handling error in DJ FLUFFY JAM.
Then… It is due to the fact that you are trying to move a word or sound DURING playback. Once you play the song, wait until it ends before trying to add/move words and sounds.
Things that are USER PROBLEMS, not technical ones…
= The Play button on the Fluffimations won’t play. That’s because you must fill in each one before it will start.
= “I’m stuck on the Road to Bethlehem looking at a billboard.” Click the billboard!
= “Some of these answers in the Shepherd’s Quiz are wrong.” Gotcha! The angels don’t appear to the shepherds in Matthew as the question asks. They do so in Luke! And at first only ONE angel appeared to the shepherd, followed by a heavenly host.

Jesus in Space CD
Flinger reports ZERO known tech problems with Jesus in Space CD v1.1.
INSTALLING JESUS IN SPACE ON A Wacka-MAC Computer:

STEP 2: Put the CD in your drive. It’s folder/files should appear.
Why these steps? Because of the dumb way we built this thing. Mac Update: As of January 2015 we stopped advertising and supporting Jesus in Space as able to run on MAC 10.X. They’ve made too many non-backwards-compatible changes to OSX.
WackaMAC error “PowerPC applications are no longer supported.”
This means you have the original edition of JiS CD which is incompatible with later versions of OSX.
Version 1.0 Error:
If you have version 1.0 and choose autocomplete in the Babel 4000 (Baptism), and the machine puts in the word ‘squirm’ the program may freeze on page 2 of the story. If you see this word, click it and change it to something else.

Life of Christ CD Support
Be sure you install the LASTEST version of Quicktime for Windows version 7.7.9 –if you have Windows 7, 8, or 10. Ignore the fact that it is also the last version of Quicktime they are making. You need it. Do not use the version of QT that came on the CD and may have installed when you didn’t have the latest version already installed. Not having the latest version of Quicktime can cause Life of Christ to randomly crash.
If you get an “engine” error, make sure you’re logged in to your computer as the main admin user with full rights. If you set up a user account with ‘limited privileges’ you will probably get an LOC error message when the program tries to write the player’s name to the harddrive. Writing the harddrive is required to record names and scores.
Always be sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed, especially if you recently upgraded to a newer/new computer system. If you enter the Castle and it crashes, the likely cause is an out of date Quicktime file.
There are several versions of LoC CD. There is no update patch. Version 4 has been out a few years and is the one that’s fully compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. V4.1 is the latest.
If your LoC CD’s label says “version 3.0” and you subsequently upgraded to Windows 7 or 8 or 10, your older copy of LoC no longer works. You will need to buy the newer version. After all these years, there is no ‘upgrade’ or patch, only the new version. Look on your CD’s label for the version number. You will need LoC CD version 4.X for Windows 7 or 8 or 10.
Life of Christ CD is the ONLY program in our catalog that comes with copy protection. You MUST have the original CD in the CD tray when you start the program. If you don’t have the CD in the tray, the program will prompt you to place it in the tray. Simply burning a copy of the master won’t work. We realize this is an inconvenience to some of our customers who have multiple copies of Life of Christ CD, and would prefer NOT letting the teachers or students HANDLE their CDs! Scratches happen. Again, simply burning a copy will not make a usable copy due to the protection. WE DO HAVE A LEGAL WORKAROUND FOR THIS for our church customers who have already purchased multiple copies of LoC. Contact neil@sundaysoftware.com.
Need navigational help? Want to know LoC’s tricks and secrets? Print our free guide linked on LoC’s webpage in the “Doc Box”.
Note to Labs with Multiple Versions of Life of Christ CD:It is possible that your computer lab may have purchased different versions of Life of Christ at different points in the program’s development. For example, you had an old computer with an older version of LoC, and recently added a new computer and bought an additional newer version of LoC. This may create a problem if your teachers MIX UP which LoC CDs were installed on which computers in your lab, –as different versions of LoC have installed different startup file parameters.

Life of Paul, Life of David, Adventures with Daniel, Noah and the Ark
Animated Menu and Bible Time Theater Videos Won’t Work
These CDs require Quicktime 2.1 from the CD to be installed. QT2.1 will not interfere with other versions of Quicktime. A copy of it named qt32 is located in the MEDIA folder on the CD.
Solution: Explore the CD’s files and execute the qt32.exe (quicktime) installer. It’s located on the CD in the folder titled “MEDIA.” RIGHT click qt32.exe and select “run as admin”. If the QT installer asks if you want it to “search for other versions” definitely say “NO” or it will hang.
Game Glitch in Fun & Games section?
It has been reported that a memory verse or two on some of the CDs don’t work. There were several technical updates made to this series, and some of those glitches were solved, but there is no available fix or guarantee. Just work around them.

Some early versions of this CD did not come with an installer.
They ran from the CD. In later versions, we added an installer and desktop icon. Always use the ‘xxxx32.exe’ application file to start the program and not the xx16 version.
You can dump all the files from the CD into a folder on your harddrive and run it from there.
“Director 6.0 Error: This program requires at least 3MB of virtual memory to run”

Quicktime 2.1 Installation stops, hangs up, fails
When the QT installer asks if you want it to “search for other versions” definitely say “NO” or it will hang on newer computers.
Name Badger CD
View or Print our Name Badger Support PDF. It has many operational details, helps, and odd suggestions!
Tech Note: The “select multiple badges and print with one click” function still works, however, if you go through with the printing, then only the first tag on the list will get today’s date recorded as “attended.” Solution: Print badges individually and each will get properly recorded as attended that day. If you ‘cancel’ the Windows print box, the names still get recorded as attended that day. That is designed that way so that you can use NB to register attendance but not print tags.
Quick Helps:
- 12345 is the default log in. It’s an installed text file you can change.
- Be sure you have the latest version of Adobe FLASH installed on your computer. It’s free at https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
- Can’t find the TXT FILE on your system? Windows uses “virtual folders” for some programs, and you need to know where the text file is actually being stored. SCROLL back up this page to our Fall of Jericho CD support notes. They describe where your virtual folder is located in Windows.
- Name Badger has been designed to print nametags 2-3/7″ WIDE (2.4″) and 4″ LONG (a standard nametag length). When you install your label printer, you will need to go into your Windows Control Panel printer preferences, and set that width label in your printer preference.
- No, you cannot add an image to the nametags within NameBadger.
- Sorry, you cannot change NameBadger to record more than the “last ten attendances.” Point of View: The attendance function was built to help you identify who had recently or not recently attended. RECENT attendance is the most important attendance stat. If you’re aren’t keeping track of that, then, looking a few months later is too later.
- We are aware that there is a limit to the number of entries you can import. It tends to be about 300 names. NameBadger was never designed as a database for large groups. It was designed for classrooms, fellowship groups, and Sunday Schools.
- You will most likely want to set your Label printer as the default printer. When you select PRINT, the Printer Dialog Box will appear, and it will have a “preferences” option. However, this
particular pop-up printer panel in Windows only sets preferences for one print job. Rather, you want to set your Printer’s
preferences for EVERY Label you print. To do that, follow these steps:
1. Open the Windows Control Panel
2. Open Printers
3. RIGHT CLICK your Label Printer and select “Properties”.
4. Select “landscape”.
5. Select 2-3/7″ width label size.* Please note: this is 2.4 inches, not 2/3rds of an inch!
6. Select your label length as 4″. You can set it slightly shorter, but your fonts will shrink.
7. Select OK. These settings will now be the default settings every time you use this printer.
Make the program appear larger on your screen by adjusting your Windows Display “SCALING” option to 150% prior to using the Ten C’s program. A link to your Display options will open when you right-click any empty area on your desktop. How-to article.

Make the program appear larger on your screen
Make the program appear larger on your screen by adjusting your Windows Display “SCALING” option to 150% prior to using the Ten C’s program. A link to your Display options will open when you right-click any empty area on your desktop. How-to article.
How to Start the Summit Chapel Writing Activity
Can’t get across “Chaos Canyon” Bridge
You need to click on the shipwreck and signs first, then the bridge can be crossed.
Animations and videos not running
Install the latest version of Quicktime for Windows 7.7.9. It’s free from Apple. See “Quicktime” notes on this support page.
Photobubble turn too slowly or herky-jerky…
Copy all the contents of the CD to a new folder on your harddrive, and run start.exe from there.
“Macromedia Has Encountered a Problem….”
This likely means that you need a newer version of Quicktime installed than the one that came on the CD or is compatible with your system. Be sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on your computer. You can get Quicktime for Windows at apple.com/quicktime.
If the photobubbles are “turning too fast”
Then move your mouse pointer closer to the center or further out to the edge when holding the mouse button to adjust speed.
Summit Chapel’s Tablets won’t print?
Problem exists only an early version. Incompatibility with a printer driver. Possible fix: Open your computer system’s printer control panel. Select “draft mode” or “quick print” (or similar) then print the tablets. Note: A copy of the tablets in graphic form is also provided on the CD. Another Workaround: When students have finished typing onscreen, have them hit their “printscreen” key on the keyboard. Then, open up Windows Paint (found in accessories area of operating system) and select Edit, Paste. The screen shot will appear. Then select File, Page Setup and set your printer to print in “landscape mode.” Then print.
Reminder: The Summit Chapel Tablet screens are available as printable handouts on the CD itself in its “printouts” folder.
Quicktime keeps asking to install itself? Read this solution
The following programs are long out of print and will not work on newer versions of Windows:
Pathways Through Jerusalem:
Sorry….XP was the last version of Windows that Pathways could work on.
If the animated main menu and videos aren’t working, explore CD1 and install Quicktime 2.0 from the CD. It’s the only version of QT that Pathways will work with. This only works for XP.
The following two error messages can be received when attempting to install an older program on Windows XP or Me.
SHADOW An error has occurred in your application. If you choose Ignore, you should save your work in a new file.
APPLICATION ERROR Shadow caused a General Protection Fault in module ~TMP0B2B.EXE at 0002:0202
The solution was provided by a techie customer of ours in Australia when he noted in our discussion with him that we had only heard of the error with our International customers (outside the USA). The error was occurring during the installation of Pathways Through Jerusalem CD, a program who’s installer dates from the mid-90’s.
The solution is to change your language settings in the Windows Control Panel to “English (United States)” and install the program, then change the language settings back to your preferred choice and running the program.
Quickverse Life Application Bible
This once fine program has been out of print for over a decade. It does not work on Window 7, 8 or 10. Sorry about that.
HolyLand 3D CD
This program has been out of print a number of years. It does not work right on Window 8 or 10.
Ilumina Bible CD
This program has been out of print for several years. The last version they made (simply titled, “Ilumina”) worked on Windows 7. After that, we don’t know. There are many different EARLIER versions of Ilumina, such as “Ilumina Gold.” All are out of print. Most are NOT compatible with newer operating systems (after Windows 7). In general, you should UPDATE your system’s version of Quicktime for Windows from apple.com/quicktime. Also, try right clicking the Ilumina startup icon and selecting “Run as Admin”. You may also try to adjust its Windows Compatibility option to “run as XP”. However, many older versions of Ilumina WILL NOT work in newer systems.
If you bought a version of Ilumina that requires a code to access/install, you will need to contact Tyndale House Publishers in Wheaton IL. We never sold that version and don’t have the code.
Please do not contact us about Ilumina. We didn’t make it and haven’t sold it in over a DECADE.
Play and Learn Children’s Bible CD
This program will NOT work in Windows 64bit systems. Play and Learn Bible CD will not work past XP and Vista 32. It will not work in Windows 7 or 8.
Starting in 2011 we began distributing a version of this program with an installer that puts the whole program on your computer. Earlier copies were designed to run with the CD in the drive. If your version doesn’t have that installer, I suggest you make a folder on your harddrive, and copy the CD into it and run it from there. Remember, you may need to RIGHT click the executable file and select “Run as Admin”.
From time to time customers report some songs not playing in the gameroom not playing when clicked. Here is the solution:
First, only SINGLE CLICK a song button. If that doesn’t help… on older versions of the program try copying the entire CD to a folder on your harddrive and running it from there (starting in 2011 we updated the CD to add an installer which put it on your drive).
This “some songs” issue can also be due to clicking the wrong location on some buttons (the buttons have mouse hotspots, -some of which aren’t properly lined up due to an unknown graphic problem), or because you may have double clicked the play button.
The song play hotspots locations may be getting too ‘critical due to too high a display resolution which causes the program, and thus, the finicky hotspots, to appear quite small on the screen, -and you miss them with your mouse. Try resetting your display to as close to 800×600 as you can. To make the program fill more of the screen, reset your Windows Display resolution as close to 640×480 or 800×600 as you can. In Vista/W7, right click the P&L startup file/icon and set it to “run in a 640×480 window”.
IF you are getting the ‘wrong answer’ in the ABC’s/123’s activity. You must “click-hold-and-drag” the correct letter into the correct spot.
If you get the error message: Unable to copy the driver file c:\windows\dirdib.drv… it means you need to run this program in XP under the full administrative rights user acct and not a limited user acct. If you get a 16 bit subsystem error message, go to our XP Notes below. You can also click ‘ignore.’
Sandals Bible Atlas CD
Out of print a long time ago. Don’t know if it will work on W8 or W10.
Many people ask “how can I get the program to fill the screen.”
- Answer: Open the toggle below for that answer, and also how to keep programs from “stretching” and looking fat on some monitors.
How to get your program to fill more of the screen
How to keep your game from stretching on wide aspect monitors
Many programs were designed for 800×600 screen resolutions, or have a FIXED pixel size of 800 x 600. Newer monitors and their graphic cards were designed for higher resolutions, and text-displaying web browsers and wordprocessors that can stretch to any screen dimension. Thus, “fixed width” programs, like many multimedia games are, will only fill part of the screen, …if your screen is set at a higher display size than the program is set to.
The solution for your Sunday School computers is to RESET your Windows Screen Display resolution (size) to something closer to the native dimensions of the program you want to use. That way the program will fill more of the screen.
There are many different resolution/display setttings, as there are many different sizes and kinds of monitors. So you may have to do a little trial and error.
For the typical Sunday School DO THIS: Open your Windows Display settings in the Windows Control Panel, and set your screen resolution DOWN as close to 800×600 as you can for many of the titles in our catalog. You can always set it back.
Some graphic cards are “smart” and versions of Windows. They can self-adjust based on what they think the program needs.
Sometimes you just have to tell Windows what you want.
If your graphics look STRETCHED on some wide-aspect monitors, your graphic card/video card properties MAY be smart enough to figure that out on their own, or they may have a setting YOU can adjust. Depends on the quality of your hardware and drivers.
Here’s a helpful graphic on how to manually adjust your graphic properties to detect a game screen and keep it at a FIXED aspect ratio rather than stretching it fat.
Read this article and solution for the “Director requires 3mb” error.
If you have Windows XP and are getting the following error msg: “Unable to copy the driver file c:\windows\dirdib.drv to windows directory…” You need to install/run the program in the Full Administrative rights user account on your computer, not a limited user acct or network acct.
If you get an error message “…system32\wing.dll is not a valid Windows image” you need to run the Compatibility mode for this program and select “Run as Win 98.” Click START, Programs, and find the start icon for the program in question. then RIGHT click the start ICON and select properties. Then check the box “Run in Windows 95 (or 98) Mode.” This change will only affect how XP runs that particular program.
If you get a Director 5.0 error message regarding xobglu16.dll or (obglu16) when running any of the Interactive Kids Series of CD (Life of Paul, etc), run the program under the Main Admin acct instead of a limited user acct. If you want to tweak the system to run it under a limited user account you’ll need to follow the procedure detailed at this other tech site. Here’s the quickie summary: Log on as Admin, launch the Interactive Kis program. Now use Windows key to switch to Desktop. Start My Computer and look in the C:\Windows folder for xobglu16.dll (make sure you have UNhidden system files). Right click that file and click Properties. Then select “read only” and OK. Now go back to the program and quit. This will keep this file in the Windows directory for the Limited User acct to find and run the program. Now relaunch program in limited user acct to test.
If you receive a 16bit subsystem c:windows\system32\autoexec.nt error message when trying to run an older program, it means that file is corrupt or missing from XP. Might have been deleted by a bad uninstall of another program. Could be a virus too, so run a virus scan. Google the file name “c:windows\system32\autoexec.nt” and you will see that Microsoft has a way to fix it. The easiest way to fix it is this: Go to another XP computer and search for the file “autoexec.nt”. Copy to a diskette and install on the computer which is missing the file in its c:\windows\system32 folder.
